Road Acceptance

Any applicant requesting that an existing private road in Stephens County be accepted
into the county system must complete an application prior to the request being heard by
the Board of Commissioners.

The Stephens County Board of Commissioners requires a 30-foot right of way from the center line (minimum 60 feet) for a road to be accepted as a county maintained right-of-way and to be considered for paying and county maintenance.

Stephens County also requires a survery of the existing roadway showing, at a minimum, the centerline of the roadway, size and location of all drainage structure inverts and all recoverable front property corner monuments.

Property owners are responsible for the costs of relocation and for providing perpetual easements for any utility affected by the change in right-of-way.
