Stephens County Board of Commissioners will be accepting applications for the position of Senior Center Director beginning January 12, 2018 and closing on February 2, 2018.  Applications may be obtained at the Historic Courthouse,

The purpose of this position is to perform supervisory tasks in managing the day to day operations of the Stephens County Senior Center as well as overseeing  programs to aid and assist the senior citizens of the county.


This position is responsible for supervising, directing and evaluating the staff of the Senior Center also; performing related tasks to support daily operations, completing required reports, answering inquiries and concerns, preparing and maintaining department budget and completing required financial reports. 


Duties also include the Meals on Wheels Program which involves assisting with meal planning and preparation, approval of program referrals and home visits for assessments.  The director will also maintain the senior center, manage the transit service for senior citizens, schedule drivers, oversee maintenance of assigned vehicles, attend meetings and participate in training and workshop activities.


Minimum qualifications require a bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field with a minimum of two years of experience working with senior adults and experience performing managerial tasks including budget preparation and management, supervision of a work group, and dealing with potentially serious situations; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position.  Qualified candidate must possess and maintain a valid commercial driver’s license and must be or have the ability to become CPR certified.

Stephens County Board of Commissioners is accepting applications for E911 dispatch position.


The duties for this position include, but are not limited to the following; receives all emergency 911 and non-emergency calls and transmits all appropriate information to the public safety personnel, answers radio transmissions for the Police, Fire, EMS, Sheriff’s Office, EMA and other necessary public safety personnel.  Duties also include entering data into the CAD and GCIC system, monitoring security cameras and facility gate to ensure a safe facility.


Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, the ability to multi-task; have a working knowledge of computers, able to type 35WPM with no errors, and the ability to work in a demanding environment. Completion of the Georgia Communications Officer Certification or previous experience working in a 911 center will be a plus.


Deadline for applications will be November 17, 2017 and will be taken at 37 West Tugalo Street in the Historic Courthouse in downtown Toccoa Monday through Friday from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm.
