Stephens County Landfill

The Stephens County Landfill accepts and disposes of waste from Stephens County and surrounding area according to E.P.D. Standards. The landfill located off  Highway 145 between Highway 106 and the Toccoa by-pass (behind DOT lot). It is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Customers should stop at the scale house when entering the landfill area and must be out of the landfill area before 4 p.m.

Stephens County provides three disposal areas for solid waste:

Construction and Demolition Landfill:  Lumber, siding, sheet rock, asbestos, roofing materials, flooring, plywood, and other demolition waste.

Inert Landfill:  Brush, leaves, stumps, logs, flowers, plants, trees, concrete block, bricks, rocks, asphalt, etc.

Metal Bins are provided for Household goods/waste: Trash, carpet, clothes, toys, cardboard, furniture, mattresses, box springs, plastic, appliances, air conditioners, stoves.

Materials NOT allowed:

  • Household garbage (food waste)
  • Any free flowing liquids (paint, oil, etc.)
  • Sludge
  • Medical or Hazardous Waste
  • Dead animals or livestock
  • Pesticides
  • Herbicides
