The Stephens County Food Bank provides canned and other non-perishable food items to Stephens County households in need of temporary nutritional assistance, especially to families with minor children and the elderly. The food bank is located at the old W. Whitman Street Elementary School, adjacent to the Boys and Girls Club.
To be eligible to apply, household income must be below $1,211 for the head of household plus $429 for each additional household member.
To receive assistance a household representative will need to provide:
Social Security card
Proof of residency (utility bill, rent receipt, etc.)
Completed an application form.
For each additional household member, the household representative will also need to provide:
Social Security Cards
Proof of residency for household members 18 and older
Social Security Cards only for children 18 and younger
Once the registration process has been completed, the household representative may be eligible to obtain food items on any Tuesday, once a month for one year, by presenting a personal ID card. The food bank is open for registration and distribution Tuesdays between 8:30 and 10:30 a.m.
